This was the mansion of the Okumura family, who kept a kimono shop in the Edo period. The mansion was built some time between 1842 and 1844 in the Dozo-zukuri style, facing the old Nakasendo road.
Today the grounds house a History Museum, and Folk Museum and an Edo-style garden, so you can appreciate many valuable historical artifacts.
